Background Check Requirement & Commitment to Youth Safety
At Idle Hands, the safety, well-being, and protection of our youth are our highest priorities. To maintain a safe, supportive, and trustworthy environment, all applicants seeking to volunteer or work directly with our youth are required to complete a background screening before their application can be approved.
We believe that a person's past does not always define their future. We recognize the importance of personal growth, rehabilitation, and second chances. Having a criminal history does not automatically disqualify an individual from being considered.
However, because we serve young people, we take our responsibility to protect them seriously. Our screening process places particular emphasis on identifying offenses or patterns of behavior that may present a risk to children, including sexual offenses, child abuse, exploitation, and serious violent offenses.
Each application will be reviewed fairly and confidentially, with consideration given to the nature of any offenses, their relevance to the position, and applicable legal requirements.
Our goal is not to judge individuals by their past, but to ensure that every young person who enters our program feels safe, respected, supported, and protected.
